Resident Evil 3 is a fast-paced survival horror game developed and published by Capcom. Originally released in 1999 as Resident Evil 3: Nemesis and later remade in 2020, the game continues the terrifying events of the Raccoon City outbreak. Known for its intense action and the relentless Nemesis, Resident Evil 3 delivers a more action-driven experience compared to Resident Evil 2.

Resident Evil 3 Story Overview

The story follows Jill Valentine, a former S.T.A.R.S. officer and one of the few survivors of the Spencer Mansion incident. After discovering the Umbrella Corporation’s deadly experiments, Jill becomes a target. As the T-virus spreads across Raccoon City, chaos erupts, turning civilians into zombies and grotesque creatures. Jill’s main objective is survival and escape. Throughout the game, she teams up with Carlos Oliveira, a member of the Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service (U.B.C.S.), who helps her fight through the infected city.

Meanwhile, they face the ultimate threat — Nemesis, a powerful bio-weapon designed specifically to eliminate S.T.A.R.S. members. Unlike Resident Evil 2, which focuses heavily on exploration inside the police station, Resident Evil 3 expands into city streets, subways, hospitals, and underground labs. The story moves quickly, emphasizing action and urgency as Raccoon City heads toward total destruction.

Resident Evil 3 Review

Resident Evil 3 offers stunning visuals powered by Capcom’s RE Engine. Character models, lighting effects, and environmental details are highly polished. Jill Valentine’s redesign in the remake gives her a stronger, more modern personality, which many fans appreciated. The biggest highlight is Nemesis. His design, sound effects, and boss encounters create high-intensity moments. However, unlike Mr. X in Resident Evil 2, Nemesis appears in more scripted sequences, reducing unpredictability. One common criticism is the game’s shorter length and removal of some content from the original 1999 version.

While the action is thrilling, some players wished for more puzzles and exploration. Despite this, the pacing keeps players engaged from start to finish. Resident Evil 3 delivers a thrilling survival horror experience packed with action and cinematic moments. While it may be shorter and more linear than Resident Evil 2, it successfully captures the chaos of Raccoon City’s final hours. Fans of fast-paced horror and intense boss battles will find Resident Evil 3 an exciting and memorable adventure.
